2024 WorldSBK Rider Line-up: Who are the confirmed riders?
Alex Lowes has become the latest WorldSBK rider to have his future confirmed, after agreeing to a new one-year deal with Kawasaki.
Ducati
Winner of 16 races out of 18 so far in 2023, reigning world champion Alvaro Bautista will be staying at Ducati for a third consecutive year.
- Toprak Razgatlioglu: “Everybody asks why I don’t got to MotoGP, it’s not easy”
- Jonathan Rea given new chassis for Catalunya - ‘not pessimistic to start’
Bautista announced the new during a special press conference prior to his home round in Barcelona, where it was announced that the former MotoGP rider will be staying with Ducati on a one-year deal.
The big change at Ducati could come in the form of the second seat as Michael Ruben Rinaldi, Axel Bassani, Danilo Petrucci or WorldSSP series leader Nicolo Bulega are all thought to be in play.
Yamaha
With Razgatlioglu joining BMW, Yamaha is losing arguably the most talented rider on the grid and will likely look to promote one of the GRT Yamaha riders in place of the Turkish star. Dominique Aegerter has been by far the best rookie so far this season and could be the favourite to join Andrea Locatelli, who has signed a new two-year deal with the factory team.
Kawasaki
Like Bautista, Rea is the only other rider confirmed for next season after signing multi-year deal midway through last season.
While several top names in WorldSBK were linked with the second factory seat at Kawasaki, Lowes was confirmed ahead of his home round at Donington Park.
BMW
While he remains with them until the end of the season, Scott Redding's future with BMW is at risk after the German manufacturer pulled off the signing of Razgatlioglu. The second seat which is currently occupied by Michael Van Der Mark is also up in the air.
Honda
Expectation is that Iker Lecuona will be retained for a third season, however, Xavi Vierge’s seat could be at risk, especially if the Japanese brand do push forward with trying to sign Razgatlioglu or a MotoGP rider.
